River Monster Pizza was born in 2020 by a passionate professional metal fabricator-turned pizza chef, Ray Appleby. Chef Ray is not a chef by trade; he owes everything he knows to his mom, Patricia (and a little bit to YouTube). Patricia started teaching Ray how to make pizzas when he was in his early teens. He has been making his own pizzas ever since. On a family trip to Paris, Ray was first introduced to the world of wood fired pizza. In college, Ray took a trip to Italy and re-found his love for wood fired pizza, but this time Neapolitan style. The quality and freshness of the ingredients made a lasting impression on him.
What he has created with River Monster Pizza is influenced from the many great pizzas he has eaten, his YouTube pizza chef mentors, and most importantly, his mom, who took the time and interest to teach him the labor of love that is making pizza dough from scratch.
